ANOTHER MILESTONE IN IPRM’S PROGRESS

The recently concluded IPRM’s 46th Annual General Meeting on 17 July 2009 paved new inroads for the Institute’s determination to continue serving its members. The unprecedented number of members who turned up for the AGM further attested the institute’s role and relevance.

Indeed the more than 150 members present at the AGM lent credibility and ignited new hopes for yet another challenging year ahead.  In thanking all those who took time from their busy schedules to partake in the affairs of their national professional body, I am equally inspired to welcome and announce our ‘new’ team of Council Members.

I thank our outgoing council members for their contributions in their past term in office would always be remembered.

For our incoming officers, let us work towards meeting the changing needs and times. Given the steadily growing membership and the keen interest that is being shown by members of the institute, the new council can only remain inspired to serve beyond expectations.

I welcome our new Vice President Dato’ Mohamad Salleh Rafie  and am very certain that IPRM’s efforts to serve its members and the industry will gain renewed vigor. As our members will quickly recognize, Dato’ Mohamad Salleh is a veteran professional reputed for his wisdom and passion for the profession and its practice.

I also have confidence that the new financial year 2009/2010 is expected to be a period marked with exciting and meaningful events for its members and we welcome your continued participation.

  • Training and Developments under the Chairmanship of Mr. J. D. Lovrenciear is ready to roll out intensive learning opportunities and outcomes for aspiring professionals.
  • FAPRO is slated to make its mark and in close collaboration with Puan Shameem Abdul Jalil of Public Bank.
  • Accreditation is better poised to further advance the institute’s accreditation agenda now that Ms Doris is given the Chairmanship for the project.
  • Prof. Dr. Kiranjit Kaur  Kaur will look into the further development and sustain of the Education and Student Chapter nationwide.
  • En. Aziman Hasan who hands the Media Relations initiatives will continue to forge stronger ties within the media circuit.
  • The Publication Working Group being led by Pn. Amidah Hamim who has also been instrumental in getting IPRM’s site back in service will further develop IPRM’s visibility showcasing its progress and contribution to the practice of PR.
  • Membership is continuing to grow given the effort of the committee in the past. With Hj. Rauf Jamalis chairing the committee, the membership numbers are expected to continue growing and to ensure that all PRO’s from the government sector are admitted into the institute.
  • Corporate and International Relation – Pn. Aisha Rashid
  • IPRM’s Crystal Award – Encik Haniff Hassan 

I am equally pleased to witness a greater level of professionalism and management principles in place in this 46th AGM.

Specially thanks to our Executive Director Encik Abdul Razak Khalek for his uncompromising stance for quality and accountability. His dedicated spirit to give the best has been instrumental in the success of this year’s AGM.

Our members will also remain grateful to the Department of Information for its support towards the institute.

Beyond doubt, the new financial year 2009/2010 is another welcoming period for the institute and its 809 members nationwide.

Thank you and if I may borrow a leaf of inspiration from others, let’s JUST DO IT !
